10:14 am - Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003 The last week has been amazing. OC camping was great - the camp site that we had was just beautiful, and it was really where everyone opened up to eachother and we all got a lot closer. Chris manned the barbecue, we had a huge game of boys vs girls football, and we played beach vollyball and went swimming. HGC got their own tent, so the six of us cuddled up and spent a lot of the night talking, laughing, eating gooey marshmallows and playing silly games... truth or dare... never ever... I had to work the next day, all day, and I probably only got a good hour of full sleep. Some of OBC were out by the fire the entire night, Paddy for sure, Jon, Chris and Kelly. It was interesting falling asleep listening to the fire crackle and people talking quietly. All of the girls and I are now official bush squatters....but most of us got poison ivy from the experience...I ended up with a small rash on my butt, but some of the girls were in the hospital theirs was so bad. It's only now starting to clear up. It was nice though, to get away from all of the work we've been doing. I really hope that I make chair next year...as I can't wait to do it again. Hmm, what else. The next night...or maybe the night after that? We all took the ferry across the Wolfe Island. We got there, waited on the steps of a gorgeous stone church, and we were picked up by two huge horse drawn wagons full of hay. It was amazing to ride down the country roads as the sun was setting in a wagon with all of your friends. Refreshing too. We went to an acreage that had vollyball, croquet, soccer, ponys, dinner (a big bonfire) and the neatest thing- a 34 acre corn maze. I was so excited. I've always wanted to do one! We roasted marshmallows and weenies until it was dark, and then we got into groups of 4, 3 whatever, and every 10 minutes, 1 group started the maze. It was pitch black and the stars were just amazing to see. Me and Kate were picking out constellations, the stupid OBC boys kept hiding in the corn stalks and scaring us. Once I turned a corner, and found Ty laying half in the corn, half in the path, face down. I screamed 'cause I thought he was hurt, and then I screamed even louder when everyone jumped out of the bushes to scare me. It was a really nice night though. I took an hour and a half to clear the maze, but it was pretty amazing. Other than that - we all had a dress up night at Brandys, which was great to get out of all of our grubby clothes. My work is going smoothly - I got the vests in, the nerve centre is running really well, HGC got their hospital pants, all of the gaels are registered, most of the frosh are slotted into groups. I need to run over to the nerve to get the message board up today, and I want to buy a table cloth for it...a little plastic one, just cause it looks so ugly right now :) I love all of my gaels, and they love me! We're already friends. I have an awesome group of kids, and I can't wait to hang out with them even more this week to come. Tomorrow is the road trip...I'm not sure if I am goin to be going to the ORT smoker tonight because we have to be there at 6:45 am...yikes! I can't wait. I know where the destination is, but it's all very secretive. I better run now, but I feel better being able to get an update in. Here's to being exhausted, and the rest of frosh week!
